STUDY
Parallel to the theatrical activity carried out since she was a child with the "Piccola Ribalta" theater company of Venice directed by her father Carlo Russo, since the age of 10 she has dedicated herself to musical studies. She graduated with honors in Orchestral Conducting at the "A. Boito" Conservatory of Parma under the guidance of Maestro S. Rabaglia, where she also studied Violin with Prof. A. Cavalieri, in Composition at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory of Milan under the guidance of M °. B. Zanolini, in Choral Music and Choir Conducting at the Conservatory of Venice under the guidance of the M °. S. Vanzin and L. Berengo, in Canto at the "L. Campiani" Conservatory of Mantua under the guidance of Maestro. G. Schmidtgaden, in Band Instrumentation at the “F.A. Bonporti ”of Trento.
She graduated with honors from the two-year post-graduate course in musical disciplines with specialization in Conducting at the “B. Marcello ”of Venice.
She has attended numerous advanced courses as an active student for the Orchestra Direction with the Masters J. Kalmar, F. Nagy, H. Priem-Bergrath, E. Acel, E. Simon, G. Bellini, S. Rabaglia, G. Gelmetti, A. Ceccato, A. Ros Marbà, D. Pavlov, G. Proietti, C. Metters, P. Bellugi, M. Dini Ciacci, W. Toews and G. Charpentier and and as a student auditor with Masters M. Wung Chung, M. Gielen, I. In 2012 she obtained a Master's Degree in Europlanning and the enrollment in the European Europrogettisti Register, and the Master in Fundraising from the Faculty of Economics of the Alma Mater University of Bologna / Forlì.
She received her Masters in Non Conventional Marketing and Social Media from Eurogiovani in Bologna and the qualification of Event Organization at the Studio + Academy in Verona.

COMPETITIONS
Very young, in 1985 she won the scholarship of the EEC and of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan for the specialization course for "Maestro del Coro delle Voci Bianche" held by M °. G. Schmidtgaden at the Teatro alla Scala, of which she was subsequently Assistant for six years at the Teatro alla Scala.
In 1988 she won the Wienermeisterkurse Competition where she debuted in Vienna conducting the Symphony KV 385 "Haffner" by W.A. Mozart.
Subsequently she was a finalist in the selections for "Young Directors" of the "Peter Maag 1991 Workshop" and received a scholarship in Orchestral Conducting at the Chigiana Musical Academy of Siena (1997) for two consecutive years 1996 and 1997 has passed all the selection phases of the Competitions for "Young Conductors" at the Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, obtaining the final Concerts.
In 2004 she passed the selection stages of the "Berliner Kammerphilarmonie", achieving the final concert.
In Italy she won the two national Ministerial Competitions for the chair for Titles and Exams of 1990 for teaching at the Conservatories of Choral Exercises and Harmony and Counterpoint, and in 2000 the Competition Reserved for Titles and Exams of the disciplines of: Orchestral exercises, Composition , Choir Direction for teaching, automatically obtaining the update of the Choral Practice discipline.

TEACHING ACTIVITY
After a debut in the middle school in 1982 which lasted only three years and alternated with theatrical activity, from 1991 she accepted teaching assignments abroad and in Italy. From 1991 to 1999 she taught in the Conservatories of Music of Verona, Bolzano, La Spezia, Adria and Castelfranco Veneto as an annual substitute in the Disciplines of Orchestral Exercises, Composition, Complementary Harmony, Reading and Vocal Piano for didactics, Choir Conducting for Teaching and Assistant to the Conductor M ° Emil Simon in the Faculty of Music Dima of Cluj Napoca (Romania). From 1999 to 2002 following the Ministerial Competition she held the chair of "Harmony and Counterpoint" at the "V. Bellini ”of Palermo where she also held the position, conferred by the Director of the Conservatory, of" Director of the Ensemble of contemporary music ", and she took care of the organization and preparation of the Contemporary Music exhibitions, bringing some of them to the Conservatory of Palermo first absolute performances by contemporary authors.
From 2002 to 2004 she held the chair of "Harmony and Counterpoint" and "Experimental Composition" at the "Felice dell'Abaco" Conservatory in Verona, where she also held the position of "Director of the Ensemble of Contemporary Music".
From 2004 - 2005 she held the chair of "Orchestral Exercises" at the Conservatory of Ferrara with temporary assignment in Matera.

Later she was the holder of "Orchestral Exercises" at the Conservatories of Benevento, Bolzano, Venice, Ferrara where she was for ten years Professor of Orchestral Exercises of the old system and of Orchestra and Orchestral Repertoire Laboratories, and of Orchestral Training for two-year, three-year and pre-academic courses, of the new system, and was for a three-year term Head of the departmental area of ​​Musica d'Insieme (assignment expired in 2015), of the start-up courses to the Orchestral Direction, Course Management Orchestra for Masters collaborators, Practice and Repertoire for Singing and Orchestra and Free Orchestra Course and currently at the Conservatory "FE Dall'Abaco" in Verona where he is Professor of Orchestral Exercises of the old system and of the Orchestra and Repertoire Laboratories Orchestral, Orchestral Training for two-year, three-year and pre-academic courses of the new system, courses of Start-up at Di Orchestra, Orchestra Conducting Course for Collaborating Masters.

 

CONCERTISTIC ACTIVITY

In Italy she directed the Orchestras Oser Arturo Toscanini of Parma, the Orchestra of Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, the Orchestra JFutura of Trento, the Chamber Orchestra of Milano Classica, the Symphony Orchestra of the City of Pavia, the Orchestra Bari Symphony, the European Female Orchestra Clara Wieck, the Instrumental Ensemble of "Ravenna In Festival 1986, 1987", the End Century Ensemble of Bergamo, the Female Ensemble of Rome, the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the B. She was founder of the F.I.D.A.P.A. (Italian Federation of Women Arts Professions Business) in 1990 with which she also carried out activities for 1991. Between 1995 and 1997 she actively collaborated as Conductor with the Instrumental Ensemble and with the Conservatory Orchestra of Parma. In 1998 she accepted the position of Principal Conductor of the Orchestra of the University of Padua "Concentus Musicus Patavinus" with which she also carried out activities for 1999.

 

OPERATIONAL ACTIVITY as ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR

In 1986 she debuted as a young conductor at "Ravenna in Festival" conducting a show entitled "Paradise: four questions and four answers" and the following year 1987 directing the show "Djamileh" by G. Bizet both directed by L. Arruga.

She has also directed several opera productions including "Djamileh" by G. Bizet, "Rigoletto" by G. Verdi, "Così fan tutte" and "Don Giovanni" by W.A. Mozart, the contemporary Opera "Il Teatrino delle Maraviglie" by P. Furlani, "The Combat of Tancredi and Clorinda" by C. Monteverdi, "Medeè" by D. Milhaud, "Il Mondo della Luna" by J. Haydn in set up of the Venice Conservatory in collaboration with the Teatro alla Fenice in Venice, "Il Principe Porcaro" by Nino Rota, "Hänsel und Gretel" by E. Humperdink, "Elisir d'Amore" by G. Donizetti.

She collaborated with the Irish composer Tom Cullivan for the world premiere of his "Cantata Hiroshima" which she directed at the Teatro Bonci di Cesena.

 

COLLABORATION ACTIVITIES

Since 1985 she has worked with various symphonic lyric institutions such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Teatro alla Fenice in Venice, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the As.Li.Co. of Milan, the Prinzregenten Theater of Munich, the Tölzerknabenchor, the Halle Opera House, the Coccia Theater of Novara, the Teatro Regio of Parma, the Carlo Felice Theater of Genoa, the Opern House of Chicago, the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, the "Opera 2001" of Alicante, the Teatro Comunale of Bologna and with the conductors R. Palumbo, D. Callegari, D. Gatti, E. Ihnbal, T. Severini, R.Chailly, A. Allemandi , A. Zedda, J. Arnell, A. Davies, F. Bender, C. Nance, JL Cobos, R. Bonucci, M. Panni, W. Jurowsky, Y. David, in various positions (Actress, Assistant to the Orchestra Conductor, Collaborator Master, Substitute Teacher, Master Suggestor, Correpetitor, Master of the White Voices Choir , Korrepetitor, Instrumentalist in Orchestra).

She has collaborated as an accompanying pianist for the Singing Seminars of Leyla Gencer, Renata Scotto and Astrid Varnay and has repeatedly held the position of Maestro pianist of Sala (Prinzregententeather, Halle Opernhaus, Teatro alla Fenice in Venice).

The twenty-year collaboration with the Tölzerknabenchor of Munich, led her to realize, as Stimmbilderin, some production of "Zauberflote" by WA Mozart at important theaters such as the Munich Prinzregententheater, Chicago's Opera House, the Theater Carlo Felice of Genoa.

She was Assistant to the Conductors M ° G. Schmidtgaden, M ° T. Severini, M ° M. Damerini, M ° E. Simon, M °. A. Tarchetti, M ° G. Gelmetti and M ° A. Ceccato.

ARTISTIC ACTIVITY as SOPRANO

Simultaneously with her conducting activity she carried out an intense concert activity as Soprano, with the pseudonym of Ursula Joss, in the Baroque, Liederist and contemporary repertoire.

She collaborates with the composer Maurizio Pisati in the "Zone" project, for which she made her debut at the Teatro Studio in Milan, at the Piccolo Teatro Regio in Turin, at the Sala Maffeiana in Verona, at the Palazzina Liberty in Milan. She participated in the first absolute performance of the Messa in Si minor by G. Carli Ballola at the Sacred Music Festival of Bolzano and Trento.

She made her debut as "Pamina" in the "Zauberflöte" of W.A. Mozart under the direction of Maestro G. Schmidtgaden and subsequently of Maestro Ralph Ludewig, and in the role of "Cio-cio-san" in the "Madame Butterfly" by G. Puccini at the Chisenau National Opera in Moldova for the Festival of Spring 2002 under the direction of the M °. Corrado de Sessa.

She has collaborated with the vocal quartet "Cuiusvis Toni" as Soprano II with whom he made the first Italian performance of "Odisseus Women" by L. Andriessen. In collaboration with the Music in Aulis Association of Bolzano she held in 2015 Recitals on music by various authors based on a text by Dante Alighieri.

COMPOSITIVE ACTIVITY

In 1999, following a ministerial competition (1990) she obtained the qualification for the teaching of "Armonia e Contrappunto" and in 2000, following a ministerial competition, she obtained the qualification for the teaching of "Composition". The compositional activity mainly includes arrangements of music created for the orchestras of the Conservatory orchestras where he worked.

However, there are also original compositions written and dedicated to prestigious soloists such as the Tölzernabenchor of Munich, the violinist Carlo Lazzari, the Quartetto Trame Sonore, the trumpet player Fabrizio Nasetti and the tubist Alessandro Ballarin.

In collaboration with the Associazione Music in Aulis of Bolzano on the occasion of the Recitals on music by various authors on a text by Dante Alighieri, she included her own composition entitled "Virgin Mother" on the text of the last song of the Divine Comedy Paradise.

Winner of the International Composition Competition organized by the Adkins Kiti Foundation for the piece entitled "In piedi Signori" for English Horn, Violin, Viola and Violoncello performed in November 2017 at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari on the occasion of the day against violence against women. She is been reported and finalist in other International Contests.

MANAGERIAL ACTIVITY

Since 2012 she has been President and Treasurer of the Cultural Association "Catterino Cavos" of Venice and has rediscovered the musical figure of the Venetian composer.

From 2017 she is President and Treasurer of the "Compagnia Teatrale" Small Ribalta Lirica "Association of Venice that deals with carrying out research and production activities linked to the figure of the Venetian playwright Carlo Goldoni, and to the musical work on the libretto by Carlo Goldoni.
